Seal Beach, Ca.

I find myself unexpectedly back in southern california, because my mom is back in the hospital after having had a heart attack and an emergency angioplasty last night. She had been having symptoms for over a week, but attributed them to other causes. WE in the medical field call this denial. When I had talked to her earlier in the week, she was having some trouble breathing, but that is nothing unusual.

I arrived here at about 8 pm after a 7 1/2 hour drive and went right to the hospital. She looks great, actually. She is out of ICU, and expecting to go home in a day or two.
I am dog-tired, and need to go to bed.

So sorry to hear about your mom, but glad she's faring relatively well.

Medical denial...it IS the easy way (until it up and knocks you down).

Best wishes!!!

hope she's recovering well, I know what an awful feeling that is! I think we all have medical denial when it comes to our loved ones.

Oh I know. it's so tough to be a nurse when a family member is sick. When I was talking to her, she described two weeks worth of symptoms before she decided to call. "Oh, it wasn't really chest pain--just a little pressure". Argggghhhhh!!!

Goodness-
I hope that everything is getting better since you wrote this, and know that you and your mother are in my prayers!

She sounds herself this morning--ordering my sister around like an armchair general. She thinks she's coming home today, but I'm thinking another day or two. Thanks for the prayers!

What is her name, so I can put her on the seminary prayer list?

Her name is Patricia Haight. Thanks so much for the prayers. I hear that seminarian prayers are particularly effective!
