A side trip

zyzylyI truly thought my life couldn't get any more complicated than it already is, but I was wrong.
My sister-in-law and her family went to the Philippines for two weeks, and were due to come back tomorrow. They got to the Manila airport this evening, and found that they had left their "green cards" here in the US. They live in the US on immigrant status, with Philippine passports. What this means is they can't come home until someone brings their green cards to Manila.
As fate would have it, I am the only one in the family (besides my wife) with a current passport. So it looks like I will be on a plane for Manila tomorrow night, and return on Tuesday. It will be my first trip to the Philippines. I'll have just about enough time for a nap, a shower and a taste of filipino cuisine.
Beyond belief.
