I got up early this morning--5:45 am. It's not really early for a work day, but it is for a day of skipping work. A day like today.

When I woke up I was planning to go to work. I did all the getting ready for work things--took a shower, ate breakfast, made coffee. It was the coffee that got me.

I grind beans to make coffee every morning. The beans come from Peets Coffee and Tea. As I have mentioned before, Peets' beans put Starbucks to shame. The beans glistened as I poured them into the grinder. I wondered how they would look in the morning light that hits the kitchen counter at about 6:30. I poured some beans into a bowl, got the camera, and waited.

I ended up taking about 30 pictures of beans, zucchini, altoids, a pyramid and a cup that is part of the wedding china we never use. By the time I was done, it was after 7, and I had missed the opportunity to avoid morning traffic.

So here I am, a free day ahead of me. Whee!

Yay! Yes, Peet's Coffee is fantastic. Have you tried the Plantation Coffee Roasters on Elk Grove and Elk Grove-Florin? They roast their own beans too. Yes, not quite as good as Peet's, but better than Starbucks, and a local business.

Another interesting caffeinated product that is interesting, but have yet to try, is www.guyaki.com. It's a tea that the coffee harvesters in south america drink.

I don't live too far from Plantation. Their coffee seems to be too weak for me, but I stop there a lot for espresso.

Have you done anything productive with your free day so far? You know, besides the cause of your missing work in the first place.

I went to the old city cemetery and wandered around taking pictures. That's about as productive as I wanted to be.

I'm such a fan!

I just wanted to let you know that I am such a huge fan of your photography. I see you through a friend's page and it is amazing how talented you are. I am blown away with every photograph. I was just wondering if you've ever thought of selling some?
