LJ Satire

So here's the latest in LJ Scams...

People are now saying they're "friends with the LJ crew" and have access to fast accounts. They then offer to sell you $25 paid accounts that supposedly use "fast servers". They claim that these "fast servers" allow you to log on every time, have your friend's list come up every time, have your user pics show up every time, and eliminate error messages. These people then do get you a paid account, but you get shunted to the infamous "ribeye cluster", and your account is slower than ever.

Things to be noted:

-- There is no such thing as a "fast server".
-- "Brad" does not exist. This is the pseudonym for the multinational corporation that runs LJ.
-- There are many scams out there. don't trust everybody.

You have been warned.

Brad exists. People just don't realize that he really is a billy goat. ;-)

The cluster names are great, aren't they?

I think I'm a paid member of the "screwed" cluster.

Some evenings I have quite a bit of trouble accessing LJ. Not sure if that's because I still have dialup at home (versus broadband at work) or because there's a whole lot more traffic during the evenings.

I saw this before I saw the front LJ page message, so I had no clue what you were talking about. Now, later, wiser, I can appreciate the satire.

...Ahhhh, satire.

I have an unpaid account but have been thinking about getting a paid account. My LJ acsess is always there and goes fairly quickly. Are you saying if I had a paid account I could experience problems I don't have now?

I was satirizing an announcement that was posted on the LJ news page about a scam regarding paying less for a paid account.

This post should have no bearing on whether you get a paid account or not.
