It is about 30 or 40 years old, but sits out under a tree, so doesn't get a lot of sun. This is the detail of a larger piece.

hello. I noticed that you have pseudo dionysius down as an interst. I have for a little while now been curious about looking into negative theology, and i understand he's a good place to start? i own a copy of the cloud of unknowing, but have not gotten around to reading it yet. I'm rather backed up in that area, i'm afraid. ;)
Any advice or words of wisdom on either subject? A good place to start? I know Bernard McGinn has a book on p-s, although i can't say i've run across it. just thought you might be in the know. :)

A good place to start might be William Meniger's book The Loving Search for God : Contemplative Prayer and the Cloud of Unknowing.

Meminger is a Trappist monk who was one of the founders of the contemplative prayer movement. It is a great book as both an introduction and as a companion to the Cloud of Unknowing.

Thanks! Would you advise against simply reading the cloud of unknowing as it stands?

Not at all. It is written very simply, and is a good read. I would suggest taking it slow, and letting it sink in.
