Arlina came home from the hospital this afternoon after having a round of chemotherapy. As soon a she got home she started putting stuff away and I told her to rest. Then she started washing dishes, and I got pissed. We grumped at each other a little, then went in and took a 2 hour nap, snuggled in each other's arms. It was good.

With this chemo, it generally takes 3 or 4 days, but it usually isn't too bad. The last chemo was worse--she was sick for the first 3 days afterwards.

so do the reprocussions of the chemo lessen over time? meaning does your body sort of get used to it (not that it could of course) and not get as sick as it does say the first times you have chemo? i have a relatively significant fear of cancer i guess. i suppose thats why im asking.

No, different drugs and combinations have different side effects. And people react differently to them. Some people may feel nausea all the time and others just want to eat--stuff like that.

Generally the effects can intensify over time as the body's defenses are worn down and fatigue sets in.

How is reading about this stuff for you? Is it difficult?

its not difficult no. its actually more soothing to my fears than anything. my grandma died of cancer and it seems like everyone gets it at one point in their life so that scares me.

Blip-snits are good. I find them very efficient. ;-) And the after-cuddles are nice.

Chemo sucks. Worry sucks. And it sucks more if you can't blow off all that negativity.

And then snuggle.

What an odd sensation. As I was reading this, I glanced at your user icon, and I realized I am in the exact same position--feet up, computer on my legs.

Welcome home to your lady.
Glad you had a nice snuggle together.
She was probably so glad to be able to putter in her own home.

Grumping can be like fertilizer - new growth is possible when the detritus of irritation or even anger falls away, especially when a nap is included to let the seed have change to grow in the dark. The mystery of love, and paying attention. And some day it will all make sense.
