Sunday Blossom
Mar. 16th, 2004 12:58 pm
I was at the retreat center all weekend. The grounds there are beautiful, and have something to offer throughout the year, whether it be roses, blossoms, or beautiful fall color. They are tended by a gardener named Rafael, who approaces gardening with a sense of spirituality. There are a lot of large trees scattered around, mostly oaks, but some variety. This time of year, a number of them are in blossom, and are absolutely stunning.
I got up early Saturday morning to walk the grounds and take pictures. I walked out to the trees and took a lot of shots of the blossoms--I wanted a picture of a single blossom. When I looked at them Saturday night, the close-ups were a little blurry, so I went out again Sunday morning to try again.
I got quite a few good shots--a few of them had dew on the blossoms, but I liked this one best, for the color.
Behind the cut is a picture of the trees--I took a bunch of shots, but none of them really come close to how beautiful they were in the early morning sun. In the fall, the leaves turn a vivid red. They are my favorite trees at the center--faithful friends who have allowed me to journey with them these past four years, and have shared a few of their secrets with me.
