By the light
(not the dark, but the light)
Of the silvery moon
(not the sun, but the moon)
I wanna spoon
(not croon but spoon)
To my honey I'll croon love's tune...

How can you be old enought to know that song? Did the Barbershop Quartet sing it in 'The Music Man'? Or are you just a barbershop fan? I think I remember it from my childhood in the '50s. That and 'Up a Lazy River' sung by the Mills Brothers, who were already very old, or at least they seemed to be to me. Do you remember it? But of course you're too young.
And in the same vein there was...

Down by the Old (not the young but the old) Mill Stream
(not the river but the stream),
Where I first (not the second but the first) met you
(not me but you)
With your eyes (not your nose but your eyes) so blue
(not green but blue)
Dressed in Ging-(not lace but ging) ham too (not one but too).

Do you know the rest?
So silly and so wonderful. Thanks for the reminder, Mike.
And the wonderful pics of the moon.

We always had music playing in our house when I was a kid--all different kinds. I don't remember where I first heard that song--maybe it was in a Bugs Bunny cartoon!

That's why the internets is such a wonderful thing--you can type in the first few words of a song and find the entire lyrics almost immediately.

Down by the old [not the new...] mill stream [not the river...],
Where I first [not second...] met you [not me...].
With your eyes [not your ears...] so blue [not green...],
Dressed in gingham [not satin...] too [not three...].
It was there [not here...] I knew [not thought...]
That you loved [not hate...] me true [not false...].
You were sixteen [not seventeen];
My village queen [not king...].
Down by the old [not the new...] mill stream [not the river...].

Did you take that picture? It's one of the best I've seen.

Didn't get to see the eclipse here. It was rainy and overcast.
