Arlina G. Real-Iredale

Beloved wife, devoted daughter, oldest sister, favorite aunt and friend to many. Entered into God’s loving embrace on November 18, at the age of 47, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born in the Philippines on April 6, 1957, and came to the US in 1981. She lived in Portland and Denver before settling in the Sacramento area in 1989.

She is survived by her husband Michael, parents Artemio and Catalina, brothers Eulogio (Precy), Dominador (Janice) and Fidel (Jovi), and sisters Bernadette (Leo), Teresita (Orland) and Corazon (Frank). Also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as if they were her own.

Arlina was a Registered Nurse at Sutter General Hospital for many years, and more recently, with the State of California. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo parish in Sacramento, where she served as a lay minister, catechist, and the wife of a deacon.

She touched the lives of many on her journey. Even in her illness, she continued to give courage and hope to those around her, and was, at the end, surrounded by a circle of love that stretched around the world. She will be missed.

Friends are invited for Visitation Sunday, November 21 from 4pm-8pm, Monday, November 22 from 12pm-8 pm, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7pm, both at Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd in Elk Grove. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, November 23 at 11am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 7584 Center Parkway.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wellspring Women’s Center of Sacramento (3414 4th Ave, Sacramento, CA 95817).

I will be there in spirit.

And on Thanksgiving Day, I will sit down with those whom I love and be thankful for how richly I've been blessed by my friends.

Oh man.

I hope you find some bit of her peace and share it.

You never let go of her hand. That's the greatest gift you could have given both of you.

Simple - and moving. I like the reference to friends around the world.

If it was at all possible, I would be there.

Nice work

What a beautiful thing to have had such love in one's life...to touch so many .... a silver lining and a beautiful soul....embraced by love itself. I am deeply moved by your story of "Arlina" through your heart and soul. ~ Mercedes

It's been an honor to have been allowed to see the last part of this leg of your journey. Looking forward to the next leg. I wonder what's on the other side of the next door?

Thank you Mick. How touched all of us, near and far, personally known and unknown, have been by your moving journal. I, too, like many of your friends, have been forever changed by your beautiful words, photographs and love that you and Arlina shared. I will light the Aumbry candle at my church for Arlina next week.
Love,
Suzy

Mike,

I was downstairs showering and getting ready for my Sunday, and for some reason I really started thinking of you. I'm not sure why. Maybe you're really needing some support at the moment. Today and tomorrow will be busy but difficult days for you. I wanted to give you what little bit I could to try to help out.

Music is, in my life, the most powerful force in the universe, second only to love. It has the ability to soothe and heal and transform, and I wanted to share a song with you that has helped me through some hard times. I posted a small bit of it to you earlier, but I wanted to share the whole thing with you now, in case you're at a time when you need it.

I Hear Leesha, by Michael W. Smith

Seems like it was only yesterday
She was living here
Yea, she was living here
Lord knows why He's taken her away
It isn't very clear, no it isn't very clear
Into every life a little rain must fall
And losing one you love is like a storm
But storms are passing
Chorus:
I hear Leesha
Singing in heaven tonight
And in between the sadness
I hear Leesha
Telling me that she's alright
Life goes on even after life
That's what I believe
Yea, that's what I believe
Leesha's gone, but she will still survive
In a memory that I'm keeping here with me
Silencing the voice of mortal tragedy
Listening to whispers of the soul
All is peaceful
Hang in there.
