I took this in the park that sits between the hospital and the little franciscan church. One of these days I want to make a photo post of the walk from a to b. It only takes five minutes, but there is always something to see.
This is a little different. I usually like to crop my flower pictures close and minimize the background, but I really liked the background of the uncropped on. Something about the wild grasses--very spring-like.

I like the background too- I can just smell that sweet grass smell you know? It makes me want to lie in it and laze around looking for shapes in the clouds.
Have you heard of the blue grass folk band Be good tanyas, Mike? Sam, the bass player is a friend of mine and I'd like to send you a cd of theirs along with your picture. Not sure if you'd heard of them or not.

Nope. The background makes the picture. Wise choice.

you're right about including the grass. it's much more effective before cropping.

Definitely better with the grass. It sets the scene as being a wildflower rather than a garden, which makes it that much prettier.

Nice one(s) MIke. I think I would have composed the image with the flower a bit - or even a lot - off-centre, but you are totally right to give the grasses etc equal billing.

I think I have some unconscious need for everything to be in balance. I tried putting the flower to one side, and just couldn't leave it there. I notice this at home, too. Everything needs to balance. I need to break out of that.
