mysterious and dark

gutbloom coffee meme, which consists of writing something about coffee.
The name of my journal, "One more cup of coffee for the road" come from an old Bob Dylan song. It's one of my favorites, particularly because Emmylou Harris sings backup on it, and I just melt whenever I hear her voice.
I gave up coffee for lent last year, and temporarily changed my journal name to "No more cups of coffee for the road".
I was planning to give coffee up again this past new year--some sort of change my life thing. I received about 12 pounds of coffee as christmas gifts though, and reconsidered. Coffee and pigs--that's what everyone gets me now.
I just cracked open the last pound of the Christmas stuff--vacuum-sealed from Italy. After this I thought I'd actually have to go back to buying beans, but someone gave me a five pound bag of Peets french roast the other day, so I'm set for another couple of months.
I don't actually make a lot of coffee. My coffee maker died late last year, and I never replaced it. I have a simple espresso maker. I make a couple of double espressos every day--one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. Sometimes I will walk to the coffee house while I'm at work and sip an espresso as I write in my journal.
I developed a taste for espresso when I was in Italy a few years ago. There was a little cafe below our hotel--"Cafe John-John". I came downstairs every afternoon, got an espresso, and watched the people go by. Moments like that defined Italy for me.
I have thought about moving to Italy. I'd live in an old villa up the hill with Emmylou Harris. We'd wander down into town every afternoon and sit outside and sip espresso and chat with the locals. Emmylou would sing softly with the windchimes that played in the gentle breeze. The old men would teach me how to play bocce ball. The afternoon light is golden.
One more cup of coffee for the road,
One more cup of coffee 'fore I go
To the valley below.

Italy sounds wonderful.
