Shortly after I posted the stapler poll on Friday, I went to the little Franciscan church and celebrated the communion service. I preached about something that resonated with someone there, and we struck up a conversation that ended up lasting for over 3 hours. It was pretty intense and it left me with a lot to think about. And the pie chart changes yet again.

I got back to work at about 4, the stapler completely forgotten. It sits on the desk, patiently awaiting my successor. I think [livejournal.com profile] _chandra said it best: "What the heck do you need a stapler for, man?"

After I put my books and stuff in the car, I went for a walk--the first real walk I have taken in a long time.
i took another walk yesterday, and am getting ready to take yet another today. Walking is good.

I have no idea where I am going, but one thing is sure--wherever I go, I'm gonna be there, and I need to learn to live with me.

San Andreas Fault
moved its fingers
through the ground
terra cotta shattered
and walls came
tumbling down.

Now, see...you should have given that stapler to Natalie Merchant.

I remember recovering from one of life's rather deep holes when Paul Simon's "Rhythm of the Saints" album came out. There was this one lyric that stuck. "I can't run but I can walk much faster than this."
Now I know I can walk. Doesn't have to be fast.
Please send pictures and thoughts from your journey. It is hard to explain, but your entries bring me some sort of peace, even when you don't necessarily feel that way yourself.
This one thing I believe is true. It is never the destination. It is always the journey.

I like those lyrics--they ring true, no?

I'm glad you find some peace in this. i sometimes wonder what the point is.
