I'm off to open a new shelter in a place called Denham Springs, near a potential flood area. No computer there so I will again be out of touch, although I did figure out how to read my email via my cell phone, so feel free to say hi.

I'm thinking I'll be able to go home after this storm passes through. See you on the other side!

We lived there for 5 years, in the early 80's.

What an incredibly small world! We moved to Atlanta in 84, but our first house we bought was on Jerlyn Drive in Denham. It was close to the K Mart.
So, do you import Community Coffee to where you live now? I don't miss the weather, the bugs, gumbo mud, but I sure do miss the food!

I used to sell guns in that Kmart's sporting goods department when I was only 15. Kmart closed down within the last 5 years or more. Super Walmart took all of its business.

As small as Denham Springs was, I wonder if we ever crossed paths. Wow.
I haven't been back in years. My mother wound up following us here, so there was no reason to go back.
It is nice to meet you!

The only reason I go back is my dad is there. My mom is in Gonzales and my sister in Baton Rouge. And tons of friends in New Orleans, well, used to be there. After I graduated LSU I took off. Graduate school made me end up in Berkeley where I happily stayed.

I used to live in Denham Springs. It's just across the Amite river from Baton Rouge. In fact, the Amite flooded our house. Say hi to my old neighbors for me.

Yea, the Amite flooded several times in the 70s and 80s when I was there. Luckily my dad lives in a high area (near the worst part of town ironically, I won't say what they called that area).
