The slate is clean.

I think 2005 will be one of those years that I will look back upon and wonder what happened. It was such an intense year for me--a year of doing things I had never done before, of taking chances and journeying to places I had never been, of succeeding and failing, of joy and of pain, and of moving on and starting again.

It is kind of remarkable that I have so much documentation of the year. I have journals, pictures and all sorts of music. It was a great year for music. I made a bunch of mix CDs in the latter part of the year that really tell a story of their own about where I was at.

I stayed up late last night listening to Kate Bush and making a list of things I want to do in the coming year. Not exactly resolutions--more like a loose itinerary of stops to make along the way, with plenty of room for detours.

I have a couple of projects I want to work on in the coming year. One is a calendar of pictures--one for each day of the year. Each one will tell something about that particular day. I'll complete each day in real time--as each day occurs. I haven't completely nailed down the format, but it will be pretty big when it is done. I have never been very artistically inclined, so this is a stretch for me.

I'm not going to worry too much about where my life is going. I did too much of that last year--remember the pie charts? I'll do some things to help move things forward, like take the GRE, but otherwise I'm just going to go along for the ride.

I think I am about to lose power--the lights are flickering. And the Red Cross just called to see if I am going to be available to staff a shelter--sacramento might have some flooding.

So I will wish you all a happy new year and close with some advice from hunny bunny,

dalmatian

Oh, what a precious picture! :)

2005 was a difficult year for us. I hope 2006 is a good year for us as we continue on our journey.

...always the hope of the dawning of a new year. a marking of being able to cast off the haunts and tumults of the one just past.
in all the memories you have gathered, i hope--which i'm sure exists--there are remembrances of how far we've all come as they point to directions that bring about growth. grazie.
so, i suppose as a 'lone wolf' all i need do is paint spots on my body so i can appear as a dalmatian. :) ciao!

It sure is ambitious. I'm sure a lot of great things will come of having to find and take a picture every day. You already do almost that (it seems)...it's just kicking it up one more notch.

She is SO adorable!

I hope you aren't flooding! Lots of rain.

No flooding here--I live out of the flood plain, but there are lots of little floods all around the area. I hope it doesn't get too bad!

I woke up this morning to see the street, sidwalk and my FRONT YARD under water. I freaked. But all it was, was leaves covering the drain in the street. The neighbor cleaned that out and we all watched the suction. But it's till blowing and raining like seattle stuff ... the kind that goes horizontal.

Happy new year, my friend.

By the way, I may have asked you this before, but what sort of digital camera do you use?

I have a canon eos 20d that I use primarily, and a canon g3 that I use occasionally. I love them both.

I am with you on the calendar idea. I say to myself i am going to take a picture a day of the kids to watch how fast they're growing. I joined that embodiement community, so now i've committed to keeping a paper journal, writing each day, for the entier year. I've almost completed day 1, complete with a little pic of the kids. So, i feel accomplished already! :)
I wish you a happy and peaceful 2006. Your certainly deserve it. You've an amazing person, i hope realize that.

I joined the embodiment community too, but it has very quickly overwhelmed me. I have been doing pretty good at keeping a paper journal for almost a year and a half now, although not every day.

many blessings to you in this coming year!

I did such a double take when I got to your phrase "I have never been very artistically inclined." Ye gods, man! I consider you a consummate artist of the photograph. I mean it!

haha--the part that doesn't involve taking pictures! I like having discovered photography as an artistic outlet, but I want to be able to draw and stuff too--to create borders and environments for my pictures--that's the challenge!

This is what I did... I should write them down though because right now they exsist in my head.

As noted above, simply paint yourself in black spots, and there you go!

And a happy new year to you!

I got a new album for christmas and was listening to it, and for some reason it brought you to mind! It is by Kate Bush--her first album in 12 years. Do you know of her music?

What do you think of it? I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but most of the people I've seen talk about their reactions to it so far seem to definitely prefer one disc to the other (although which disc they prefer varies).

At first I liked the second disc much more, but the first has grown on me. It is a great album to just let track through--it builds.
