yerba buena

if you see something that looks like a star
and it's shooting up out of the ground
and your head is spinning from a loud guitar
and you just can't escape from the sound
don't worry too much
it'll happen to you
we were children once
playing with toys

I love this picture!

I also love the song..Low Spark of High Heeled Boys!

If I gave you everything that I owned
And asked for nothing in return
Would you do the same for me as I would for you
Or take me for a ride
And strip me of everything including my pride
But spirit is something that no one destroys

I grew up in the SF bay area, and one of the enduring memories is listening to the radio late at night. My favorite station was KSAN, which was one of the first free-form FM stations.

I can recall listening one night, and just after the station ID at midnight, the first notes of Low Spark drifted across the airwaves at me. It was a magical moment, and that song always has a nighttime feel for me.

that song has rememberance for me too..

because I listened to it over and over and it was one of my favorites.

and also because my mom's friend Dennis (he was a young man in his 20's) at work when she worked in the steel mill, lived near the Michigan City mall, where he bought me that album by Traffic, and it is where we live close to now, it being 10 miles North of here, weird huh? And the album was warped and had to be taken back and it was a hassle and I think that is why I remember it so well.
