Damnoen Saduak floating market
Feb. 12th, 2007 08:30 am
We left the hotel at 6 am to drive 1 1/2 hours to the floating market at Damnoen Saduak. When we got there, the light was just perfect, and we started shooting away. The floating market is exactly that--a place on the water where people come to buy and sell things--mostly produce and foods, although it has become somewhat of a tourist attraction, so there's lots of junk now too.

About 45 minutes after we arrived, the tour buses started coming, and the place was soon flooded with people. They were shooting a movie there as well, so there was all that stuff too. I decided to follow the canal away for a while, and ended up in an residential area that sits on the water. Not nearly as much excitement, but more interesting people.

Tomorrow is a travel day--we head to northern Thailand for a few days before crossing into Laos.
