October 28--A mostly normal Saturday
Oct. 28th, 2017 10:55 pmI woke up well rested and didn't know what to do with the day. I decided to do what I would normally do when Malida was here. I did some chores, enjoyed some coffee with some good music, and got ready to go for a walk along the creek trail.
I've been wearing the one pair of shoes that are super wide since I broke my toe, but today I decide to try my walking shoes, which are lighter, but narrower. They were fine. I walked the length of the creek trail and back, which is about 3 miles, and my foot felt great.
It was a lovely day for a walk. It was warm, but not hot, and there were a lot of people out enjoying the day. I took a picture of a tree at the entrance to the park that was displaying some nice color.

After the walk I did some shopping for the week. One of my friends had posted a recipe for Texas chili, and that was what I decided to make. I had most of the ingredients, but needed some beef and a yellow onion.
The chili called for chunks of beef rather than ground. I found some good looking top round and cut it up. I browned it, browned the onions, added a bunch of seasoning and some broth, and let it simmer for about 4 hours. I added some tomatoes and some beans, which weren't in the recipe, but I like how it turned out. I wrote down what I put in, and the adjustments I want to make for next time. It was really good!
I have to go into the hospital at 6 am tomorrow for my last initial preceptor meeting. I don't really want to get up that early, but the meeting is only 15 minutes long, and then I can do whatever I want. I'm ok with that.
