54120--there's no beginning to this story
Apr. 8th, 2011 06:30 pmI got up at about 7 and went to work on editing the wrestling photos and sending them off. I like assignments like that--where things are happening and my job is to capture it. I'm kind of tired of doing environmental portraits over and over.
Malida didn't get up until after 10 because she didn't go to bed until after 2. I made her some coffee and encouraged her to wake up so we could go buy a new vacuum. I'm not sure what the rush was on my part, since the carpets are clean and I never vacuum anyway.
While Malida was trying to wake up I played around with my droid camera. I downloaded one of those apps that let you be creative with all sorts of interesting filters.

This one is called "back to 1839", but it reminds me more of newsprint. I like the effect.
We went to Costco to get the vacuum. We looked at the Dyson, but ended up with another Oreck XL since it was about half the price of the Dyson.

Malida asked me to take a picture of cheese to show the folks back home. Siam isn't known for its cheese.
They were having a big sale on seafood, and we thought about getting some shrimp and tossing them on the tabletop grill for dinner. We ended up buying the shrimp, plus a couple of lobster tails, king crab and some scallops and cooking it all up for lunch. I cooked the shrimp and scallops on the grill, steamed the crab and broiled the lobster, and served with rice and some sauteed greens.

Very Yummy!
In the afternoon we worked outside. Malida planted the stuff we bought at the nursery the other day and I looked up at the clouds.

There's supposed to be a storm coming in, but it's taking its time. The clouds were magnificent.

I took this with the droid. I don't think I was using any sort of special filter, it just happened to come out the way it did. I love the shot, but the file size is pretty small, so not much I can do with it other than post it here. I guess that's enough.

The other side of the same flower, only with my macro lens and my old 20D camera. It's an antique now, but it still gets good shots.
Our plan for the evening is to not eat dinner and watch some more episodes of Six Feet Under. I will go to bed early because I have to work the next couple of days.
