54121--the angry birds have flown
Apr. 10th, 2011 06:19 amNormally I will wake up about a half-hour early to write this if it is on a work day, unless I wrote it the night before, which I didn't last night. I was tired from work. The last thing I did before I went to sleep was set the alarm on my driod phone for 4:45 am.
I awoke from a very interesting dream at 5:15, and wondered why the alarm didn't go off. I looked at the phone, and it was dark and silent. I pushed the "turn it on" button and nothing happened. I shook it gently and asked, "Are you ok, are you ok?" No response. I've had it for 8 days. Goodbye angry birds.
My first thought was that something horrible had happened in the night that had unleashed some sort of electromagnetic pulse that killed all the electronics in a hundred-mile radius.
Of course that didn't happen.
So I took a shower and got dressed for work.
As I sat down to write this, the phone rang. It was work telling me they are overstaffed and that I must stay home for the first 4 hours. That will give me enough time to take that dumb phone in and replace it for one that works. Maybe I can go to the farmer's market too.
Technically, that's all day 54122 stuff. What happened on day 54121? Not too much. I worked. As I was driving in, I was a little grumpy about having to get up and go to work when all I wanted to do was sleep in. Coffee didn't help. A favorite song on the radio lightened things a little, and when everyone on the elevator smiled and said "hi", I smiled too, and felt better.
It wasn't a difficult day, but I was busy for most of it with one fairly sick patient and one not-so-sick patient. It was an unremarkable day.
I didn't take any photographs, but have one from the archives. It's a hot dog guy putting ketchup on himself. I took it on the day Japan was hit by the earthquake and tsunami.

à propos of nothing.
