Oh yes, the ginger is the secret ingredient. ;-) I remember now when grandma used to cook and I cook the same thing she cooked, it didn't taste the same till I added the ginger. Anyhoo, I'm glad you like Asian food.
I discovered last week that a Kroger's near where I work carries fresh galanga. I've been growing my own because the only place I could get it fresh was a market some 30 mile from my house that was a pain to get to.
I got mine at an asian market, but when I was at the big supermarket by my house yesterday, my mother-in-law pointed out that they have it there as well.
